Week of September 28-October 2

Monday we had off because of a holiday, Yom Kippour(:
The rest of the week we discussed what we had been doing the week before, the friday. [ The laser and mirror expiraments] While doing the expirament, i concluded that when you point a laser pointer at a mirror it reflects off the mirror leading the dot to hit another surface based on the angle that the lsaer was pointed at. We discussed the way the angles show up with the lasers. To find out the actual and exact angles we attempted many expiramenets by doing the same expirament except, this time, by using an actual protractor to measure the angles. To see the beams of light, we used erasers and flour, which allowed my group and I to see the laser beams. We had to answer a question, Why does the dot appear on the wall and not on the mirror? We concluded that most of the light hitting the mirror reflects off of the mirror and onto another surface in another direction. During the week, we discussed how the laser light would go through water and by putting a ruler into a glass of water, we observed that the ruler looks larger under water. Our class had many hypothesis of what the light would do such as the light spreading, the light going straight through the glass, and the light only going in certain directions but not all.
I learned that how light travels and what kinds of ways the light goes through and what kinds of surfaces.
